Corporate Insurance
Liability Insurance
When a third party claims your business caused their loss.
In short
Liability insurance covers your legal liability to third parties: injury or property damage caused by your premises or operations (public liability), harm caused by your product (product liability), financial loss from your professional advice (professional indemnity), and claims against directors personally (D&O).
Overview
Liability claims arrive years after the event, are argued in legal language, and cost money to defend even when you win. That defence cost is the part businesses underestimate.
Which policy you need depends on how you can hurt someone: through your premises, through what you make, through what you advise, or through how you govern. Most companies need more than one, and the important work is making sure the policies do not leave a gap between them.
What is covered, and what is not
Typically covered
- Public liability: third party injury or property damage from your premises or operations
- Product liability: harm caused by a product you manufactured, supplied or sold
- Professional indemnity: financial loss caused by professional error, omission or negligent advice
- Directors and officers: claims against individual directors and officers
- Legal defence costs, usually in addition to or within the limit
- Court awards and negotiated settlements, within the limit
Typically excluded
- Deliberate or dishonest acts
- Contractual liability you assumed beyond common law
- Injury to your own employees - that is workmen compensation or group accident cover
- Product recall costs, unless a recall extension is bought
- Claims known about before the policy started
- Fines and penalties where uninsurable
Cover and exclusions vary by insurer and by the wording issued for your risk. We confirm the exact terms on the quotation before you buy.
Who needs this cover
Manufacturers, exporters, contractors, professional firms, clinics, hospitality, and any company with a board. Client and tender contracts frequently require a stated limit, and we check the wording matches what the contract actually demands.

Claims handled by us
We prepare the file, submit it and chase settlement on your behalf.
How a claim works
- Notify us as soon as a claim or a circumstance that could become one arises. Most liability policies are claims-made: late notice can void cover.
- Do not admit liability or agree a settlement - that can breach the policy.
- Pass all legal correspondence to the insurer through us.
- The insurer appoints or approves defence counsel; we coordinate.
Working with us
We are insurer-neutral. For every enquiry we approach multiple insurers, compare the wordings as well as the premiums, and tell you where they differ on the points that decide a claim.
After the policy is issued we stay involved: endorsements, mid-term changes, renewal reminders that start ninety days before expiry, and claims that we prepare, submit and follow to settlement.
